My name is Rochelle I’m a local real estate agent right here in Oakville and the surrounding Greater Toronto Area. For the last 7 years I’ve been helping people just like you and you and you and you and you make the move to Toronto and I love it so if you’re looking to make a move just give me a shout, all my contact is down in the description below, and I’d be happy to help you make that smooth move to Toronto. But for now, let’s get right in to it. Oakville is a town full of safe and beautiful neighbourhoods, each with its own personality and architectural style. Come with me and hop in to my car I want to show you the first area on our top 5 list which is the neighborhood of West Oak Trails.

  1. West Oak Trails

West Oak Trails is a younger neighborhood that’s known for being very family friendly.  It has a very suburban feel, with winding streets and dead end roads. You’ve got a lot of reputable schools here too, high ranking elementary and high schools, as well as pre schools, private schools, and even French immersion. There are also plenty of parks and a bunch of wooded trails everywhere to go for a walk, hike, or bike with the family. Lions Valley Park for example that’s a really nice park around here that has beautiful, very scenic views, a bunch of trails that are really well maintained, and the trails actually stretch all along Sixteen Mile Creek, which is a long river or creek that actually crosses through the town of Milton which is the town just next door to Oakville. 16 Mile Creek goes right through the middle of this neighborhood so even though you’re in all this residential space the Park is so serene that it actually feels like you’re all the way out in the country. Fox Creek Mall that’s close by too - that’s an outdoor shopping plaza that’s anchored by a FreshCo grocery store and has a bunch of other shops and restaurants. So this area altogether is great for families on the go, people who want to be close to nature, but also still close to services and amenities in town.

Welcome to West Oak Trails! This is Oakville’s most family centric neighborhood, especially for active families, because this area I’m in I’m surrounded by hills, and greenspace, there are a lot of interconnected trails in this neighborhood that run past parks and through some of the wooded forests, so lots to do outdoors. In terms of housing, most of the homes here are detached, with two stories and 3 or 4 bedrooms. There are a few bungalows, some semis and townhomes as well but mostly single family. The average price of a 2-storey home with 3-4 bedrooms in this neighborhood is about 1.7 million dollars. This home behind me is your typical kind of home that you can find in this neighborhood, it’s currently listed for 1.699 million dollars it has 3+1 bedrooms and 4 baths, and just FYI whenever you see a home that’s listed as having +1 bedrooms, +2 bedrooms, they’re likely referring to either a den or a room in the basement. Because in order to officially call a room a bedroom, it’s gotta have a closet, and a window large enough to escape from in case of fire. Those are the rules about what constitutes a bedroom but come with me to the next neighborhood on our top 5 list because if you are in to the outdoors, whether you’re a family, single or a couple, this is THE place to really take in the most beautiful part of Oakville which is its waterfront. Hop in my car and let me take you to the shores of Lake Ontario to the 2nd area on our top 5 list, which is the neighborhood of Bronte.

  1. Bronte

So here I am driving through one of Oakville’s waterfront neighborhoods. This area, Bronte, has a village called Bronte Village, and Bronte Village is known for its harbor, the harborfront is probably Oakville’s biggest selling feature - or definitely one of its biggest and most beautiful attractions. There’s tons to do here, they’ve got the waterfront park that has a nice new and big playground for kids where they also host a bunch of family-friendly events throughout the year. . There’s a beach here you can go to - it’s a smaller beach but very lively because you’re surrounded by all this activity with a marina and all the boats on the water - there’s even a public boat launch as well - and then all throughout is the boardwalk where people are walking, biking, just strolling along the water, you can go down the pier and visit the lighthouse, Bronte is basically a great place to move to if you want to be part of the action, close to everything, and with a really nice waterfront setting.

In terms of housing here because you are along the water and this is one of the most happening parts of town, you’re gonna find a lot of higher end homes, like luxury condos and estate homes. But there are also a good number of entry level townhouses, apartment rentals, and retirement homes, so a decent mix in terms of variety and affordability. This is an older area of Oakville so you’ll see a lot of single family houses that are about 30 or 40 years old, so you’ll see a lot of people doing massive renovations to their homes, like putting in a new kitchen, knocking down walls to make them more open concept, just tons of modern upgrades to match the feel and overall vibe of the area. But more recently we’re actually seeing a lot of infills, where investors are tearing down homes completely and building new construction homes on the same lot. This property behind me is an example of a potential infill, if you are looking for an investment opportunity. It’s marketed as being ready for demolition and has site plans and a survey already completed, so if you did want to design a new home to cover the lot that this house currently sits on, then something like this would be a great fit for you. It’s   $1.799 million dollars.

  1. Glen Abbey

So so far I’ve been showing you homes at the upper million dollar mark, I do want to show you homes closer to a starter budget say at 1.1, 1.2, but before that I am driving through the number 3 neighborhood on our top 5 list which is Glen Abbey, and I do want to cover this area real quick because it’s actually quite famous. When most people think of Glen Abbey, they think golf. If you aren’t familiar with the golf scene, Glen Abbey is basically one of the most famous golf courses in all of Canada. The Glen Abbey Golf Course right here in Oakville has hosted over 28 Canadian Open Golf Championships so tons of competitive, high ranking golf enthusiasts have called this area home just to be closer to the course. The community’s also home to the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame, and it’s also been recognized as the first golf course community in the Greater Toronto Area. In terms of housing, many of the homes will give you a front row seat to the links, your front or back door will likely face the golf course, and the street names are golf themed, there are roads here called Golfview, Masters Green, so there is a strong sense of golf community here if that makes sense.

Welcome to the Links! That is actually the name of this street I’m on here in Glen Abbey. Many of the homes in this neighborhood you’ll notice are quite large, typically about 2500 sqft or so. The houses closest to the golf course are the biggest ones, easily over 3000 sqft, They’ve got a traditional style, most are 2 stories with 4 bedrooms, double car garages and generous sized lots. But then as you move further away from the course they get do get more modest in size. This home behind me here is currently for sale and does back on to not the the golf course itself by a parkette so you don’t have any rear neighbors. It’s listed for $2,799,000, you are part of an exclusive enclave of homes, it has a inground heated pool and tall hedges around the backyard so you get even more privacy. Overall this is a more established community, you’re surrounded by mature trees, parks and trails, great schools. Neighbors here are a good mix of  young and older families, and again this is another great area for people who enjoy living an active lifestyle.

  1. River Oaks

Ok so let’s now take you to an area with a more starter budget. The average price of a home in this next neighborhood on our top 5 list which is River Oaks, if you’re looking at all home types, apartments, towns, semis, detached houses, then this is one of the most affordable areas of Oakville where the average price of a home here is $1.15 million dollars. So relatively low compared to most other neighborhoods in Oakville. And if you’re looking for a more urban feel too then River Oaks is the place to be, because here you have everything you need at your fingertips. Plenty of amenities like the River Oaks Community Centre which is right in the middle of the neighborhood has a gym, ice rink, squash and racquetball courts, fitness studios, a running track, and of course a whole bunch of programs for the whole family. The homes in the area you’ll notice that many of them have a front porch or balcony that look on to the street, and the streets themselves are very pedestrian friendly, you’ve got bike lanes, sidewalks. Good variety of homes to choose from to accommodate a range of different budgets. If you’re looking for more maintenance-free living then the condos and townhouses in the Oak Park Urban Village section of River Oaks would be ideal for you.

Welcome to River Oaks! This neighborhood has a somewhat urban feel to it. You’ll notice the homes are fairly close together so it’s a more densely populated community. What’s really fun about the homes here are that if you take a look behind me in this complex and others in the area the homes have their garages in the back, instead of what you’ll typically see in Oakville most garages are in the front. But it’s nice because it gives a more clean look to the streets, it’s easier to drive through the inner roads, and just a more pleasantville type of feel to them. You can grab a unit here just like this townhouse which is currently on the market for $999,000. It’s 3+1 bedrooms, the +1 in this place specifically is a den, 3 washrooms, and about 2,000 sqft of living space. So great opportunity if you have a smaller budget, but still want to get your foot in the door in Oakville.

  1. West Oakville

And last but not least number 5 on our top 5 list is West Oakville. I would say that the biggest appeal to this area, personally, is its location. You’re a 5 minute drive to the lake, close to major highways, the Oakville Go station where you can take the train or bus to Toronto, tons of amenities nearby. They recently opened the Queen Elizabeth Park Community Centre for example, which has a large indoor pool, studios for art and music.  There’s also the Bronte Tennis Club nearby where you can join a league or just take lessons, and then the South Oakville Centre downtown is not too far either, that’s one of Oakville’s indoor shopping malls, it’s not as big as Oakville Place which is the town’s biggest mall, but that one isn’t too far from here either, probably just about a 10 minute drive away from here.

This is West Oakville! Most of the homes here were built between the 40s and early 60s, which is why you’ll see a lot of post-war split level bungalows here, that was the typical style back then. You can see the homes generally are on a good sized lot. This one here behind me for example has a 60 foot frontage and is equally deep as well, about 130 feet from the front to the back. It recently sold at that average price mark I mentioned in the driveby,, $1.149 million dollars. Great starter home, ample yard space, and tons of space for parking you can see you can probably fit 4 or 5 cars on that driveway. Plus you’ve got an additional detached garage which is cool if you wanted to convert it in to a home gym or separate working space, a lot of people are working from home these days just stick a heater in there in the cooler months for more privacy, or use the space for extra storage, there’s plenty of room inside and outside to make the space however you want.

And so! There you have it! Oakville is a hustling and bustling suburb of Toronto, right on the shores of Lake Ontario with plenty of great neighborhoods to choose from.  If you’re thinking of moving to Oakville then give me a shout I’d love to hear from you! Hey this video is all about how much house you can afford in Toronto Canada’s most expensive suburb, Oakville Ontario. So if you’re thinking of moving to Oakville then amazing because that’s where I’m at right now on Oakville’s beautiful harbor with boats and fine dining restaurants along the boardwalk, and multi million dollar estates behind me, Oakville Ontario screams luxury with the average price of a home here of 1.8 million dollars which is unfortunate because this town is so beautiful but not too many people - especially first time home buyers - can afford to live here. Until now. Today is the day I show you homes at a more starter budget. Now don’t get me wrong I know that 1 million dollars is a lot of money and by no means a starter amount for a lot of people but when you’re looking at the Toronto real estate market, including the suburbs like right here in Oakville, that is the norm and so today I’m gonna show you how you can get your foot in the door here in Oakville which is Toronto’s most expensive suburb. You’ll get an idea of how far a million dollar budget can take you - you’ll be surprised! I’ve got a condo behind me on the water I’m gonna show you, a modern, new, move-in ready townhouse with extensive upgrades and finishings, a semi detached house in a very family friendly and desirable, popular part of town, and even a detached house - yes you heard me right a detached house for a million dollars that is very rare it’s a great investment opportunity I’m gonna show you all the way at the end so make sure you stick around for that. Guys I’m excited to show you what you’re in for so let’s get right in to it, right now.

Property #1: $1,088,000

Right off the bat this home screams modern. You’ve got clean lines, dark brick, black window frames, the style is almost boxy is how I’d describe it you don’t have any pitched roofs or curved edges and that’s really the style that a lot of first time home buyers, younger buyers, or even older professionals are looking for these days it’s just got a sense of cool and with it without being pretentious. Sun lovers rejoice - look at these massive windows. You can see some of them face west which’ll give you beautiful unobstructed afternoon sun. Huge 9-Foot Ceilings this place is stunning. Everything in the Badger kitchen’s been upgraded, I love the white cabinets especially for smaller kitchens like this it really opens up the space. The cabinets go all the way up to the ceiling which is great for storage and the double door fridge is large too so they did a really good job of designing this place to make the most efficient use of the space. Quartz Counters are nice, nice deep sink, faucet, stove, range hood, Moen faucet, gas stove with a range hood and this cool looking hanging light that’s not the typical kind of light you see in a kitchen so again very modern and edgy. Check out this accent wall in the dining room - how much do you love that? And a couple other nice modern features of this home include keyless entry from the garage, a Google Smart doorbell, and central vac. Guys, I can’t even tell you what a game changer having central vac is it will change your life next to the lightbulb and the wheel this is probably the greatest invention of life. Just kidding. Not really.

This is a newer home just about 6 months ago is when they finished building it so you still get a full new home warranty on it. The neighborhood is very green if you check out this map you can see we’re surrounded by all this greenery like the 14 mile creek lands, Deerfield Golf club which is amazing for anyone wanting to catch the links. Oakville’s actually home to one of the most popular golf courses in Canada called Glen Abbey a lot of professional golfers live nearby to be close to the club and all the houses in the area are massive and beautiful you can check out this video that talks more about that neighborhood in details - as well as some of the other most popular areas here in Oakville you’ll get to see what it’s like, what the neighbors are like a bit more in depth. But of course Bronte Creek Provincial Park I forgot to mention is also just a stone’s throw away they’ve got hiking and biking trails, cross country skiing, even a play farm so easy way to spend a day outdoors since you’re so close. So let’s step back outside for a sec and I’ll show you around.

Property #2: $999,999

This is a GREAT looking starter home in one of the most family friendly neighborhoods in Oakville. In this part of town called River Oaks you’re also getting some of the most affordable properties where the average price of a home here is 1.15 million dollars. What makes it so great for families is that it is a densely populated community you have over 3500 residents per square kilometer which is just over double the average neighborhood in Oakville but that’s nice because with more people, you’re naturally gonna get a lot more kids here and they know that there are parks everywhere, green space, bicycle lanes, sidewalks, so the neighborhood is very pedestrian friendly too. And even though the houses are so close together the streetscape is very beautiful it almost has a european vibe to it as you’re driving along the roads they’re a little bit more narrow but the houses have their garages in the back so it doesn’t feel so tight, and the homes are nice looking with blaconies, flowers on the front porches, there’s a good sense of pride of ownership here. 60% of families have kids at home which is more than the Oakville average, and families are young - the average age here is 39 which is a couple years less than the Oakville average.

So this house  is a semi-detached, 4 bedrooms 2 baths. It’s about 11 to 1500 square feet which puts you at about $800 a square foot which is not bad at all. On the inside you’ll notice that it is an older home a lot of the house is in its original form so there’ plenty of opportunity down the road to do some upgrades, maybe replace the carpet with hardwood flooring, or swap out the appliances for some stainless steel ones. But altogether they’ve done a good job at presenting the property - it’s clean, the walls are freshly painted, it smells good. But I’d say one of its biggest selling features is it’s backyard. Nice deck here to put out a patio set, BBQ, you’re completely fenced so great privacy even with the tall evergreen hedges there and the large oak tree at the back. You’ll notice It’s a deep lot you can probably fit a pool back here, and the front is nice too because you’re on a court. You can have older kids hockey or basketball out on the street without too much worry because most traffic will be coming from your neighbors who’ll likely be used to slowing down as they come through the court. So wonderful location, let’s hop in my car and I’ll show you around a bit more!

Property #3: $999,000

This next property is listed right at the million dollar mark - 999 to be exact. You’ve got close to 1600 sqft inside + the patio out there is over 300 sqft so that puts your total at about $635 per sqft of living space which is on the lower side, condos here in Oakville your ppsf ranges anywhere from about 350-just over a $1000 per sqft. You’ve actually got 3 walkouts to that deck which is rare because usually with condos you’ll have 1 or 2 walkouts max but this is a nice bonus. We’re looking at 2+1 bedrooms and 2 washrooms. The +1 bedroom in this case is a den which is perfect for an office a lot of people are working from home these days so this is ideal for that set up you could put your desk here maybe some shelving in the back, a storage unit in the corner and you’re good to go. There is a ton of storage in this unit here already,  more than average I can say - ensuite storage, linen closet, and you can see here they even fit a cloak closet. You also get a locker downstairs so even more space to store your things. What I like about this building specifically is that even though it is older - it’s about 30-40 years old, it’s still pretty modern because  they have charging stations in the garage if you drive an electric car or hybrid, it’s really convenient that they’re keeping with the times. Now you are on the main floor so there are going to be a few pros and cons with that. You don’t get as much privacy if your apartment faces the street and you’ll likely want to cover your windows with blinds. Then if you do have curtains or blinds then that means you won’t be getting in as much light - or even if have trees in the front which a lot of buildings usually do, then those trees’ll likely block out the sun too. You’re likely gonna get a bit more noise as well  - car alarms, garbage truck, and I’ve actually heard from a couple of people you might find that you get more dust in your unit, likely coming in through the windows and actually mosquitoes as well I don’t know the science behind that but maybe bugs don’t fly that high but I have heard people say that they’ve gotten more bugs - mosquitoes specifically when they lived on a lower floor versus a higher one. And then of course the most obvious con is that you don’t get as much of a view as the floors above you. But. I think a very big pro for a lot of people is that by being on the first floor you don’t have to wait for an elevator or walk up a crazy amount of stairs, when you’re coming home with your hands full of groceries it’s just a breezy walk from your car to your doorstep. Even if you have a stroller that’s another thing that people forget to take in to consideration you don’t have to wait for an elevator again, and really that’s your only option if you have a stroller and you’re going upstairs so another huge plus there. And speaking of kids when it comes to noise you also don’t have to worry so much about that since noone’s below you you can stomp your feet and jump around cuz I know for me my son for example I have a 5 year old and a 1 year old but my boy he’s a runner and a lot of times I’ve wondered how crazy loud it would be if we had tenants under us if the sounds of his stomping and jumping around would drive people downstairs nuts so being on the first floor of a condo like this is definitely a great thing for smaller families with young kids, or even people with mobility issues in general. Locationwise you are in one of the best spots in Oakville where you’re getting great views of Lake Ontario. You are right in front of the Waterfront Trail. That’s the trail that stretches all along the lake and through here in Oakville. This building is pretty much right in front more or less of the Oakville harbor you can walk up to it in a couple minutes tops. Right around the corner is the Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park - that’s where you’re gonna get great views of the harbor and watch boats coming in and out of the Lake. It’s a great place to just go for nice stroll, and in the summer time they even host a bunch of open air concerts, you can have a drink on the patio they have a few nice restaurants close to Fisherman’s Wharf a lot of people come here to go fishing too. So stunning location, my favorite grocery store is actually just across the street, Farm Boy - that place has the best hot food bar and salad bar I totally recommend their I think it’s called the coconut curry tofu or something like that just check it out everything’s good there! Now let me take you around the neighborhood for a sec and show you the water and everything else nearby.

Property #4: $1,075,000

So this house is actually the only detached home on the market in Oakville right now at the million dollar mark. It’s listed at $1.075 million and has 3 +2 bedrooms and 2 baths. The +2 bedrooms in this case are in the finished basement which has its own separate entrance. There’s also a kitchen and living room in the basement so this place has potential to actually host a separate apartment or rental unit downstairs, maybe even convert it in to an Airbnb. Definitely some opportunity there for rental income - the only thing we want to be somewhat cautious of is that this home is being sold as is, and the buyer needs to do their own due diligence regarding any aspect of the home, including confirming the retrofit status of the basement. Now I don’t want you to be alarmed because that’s all easier than it sounds when you have the right realtor working for you. Your agent should be able to locate the right people to talk to about when it comes to making certain improvements on a home, making sure that you have the right permits in place or that you can even do certain construction projects on it in the first place. I’m one of those realtors by the way not only have I helped investors in the past I’m also a 5* Airbnb owner myself, and have flipped properties torn down walls, installed kitchen cabinets, laid out new flooring all of that with my own 2 hands so I know a thing or two about getting a job done. So when it comes to this place I just want to put it out there for all homes that are being sold as is II understand that that term has negative connotations around it but just so you know just because a home is being sold as is doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s something wrong with it. It could easily mean that - and I see this pretty often - where the seller is actually acting on behalf of the home owners - like when the owners have passed and their son is selling but has never lived in the place so you can’t speak to its condition. Or if it’s the bank selling a property that’s gone in to foreclosure then obviously they can’t speak to it’s condition because they’ve never lived in it either. Because all it really means when a home is being sold as is is that the seller can’t make any guarantees about the property. Yes, maybe there is something wrong with it, maybe a leaky faucet or the furnace needs to be replaced. Or it could be that nothing’s wrong with it - nobody knows. So the only way to be sure and my best advice when buying an as is home is to make sure you have a home inspector who can catch all those issues and make sure the integrity of the home is intact, and make sure you have a generous budget for fixes in case there is a problem that needs to be dealt with but you can be sure to have this all done before you even submit an offer. You don’t want to have an offer accepted on an as is home only to find all these problems after the fact. So it’s crucial that you have the right real estate agent working to make sure your butt’s covered and you’re still saving a substantial amount of money on your purchase.

And if you don’t already know then let me tell you then I am happy to be that agent to help you make that purchase. Whether you’re buying to live or invest, and whether you’re making moves in 9 days or 90 days I’d love to help you out! You can just give me a call all my contact is down in the description below. #1 House Prices are Expensive

Crazy expensive. So for example a 1 bedroom condo is going to run you about $675,000, a 2 bedroom town will cost you about $1.15 million dollars, a 3-bed semi will likely go for about $1.4 million dollars, and a 4 or more bedroom detached house just like this one here will easily run you a cool $2.7  million dollars so it is not cheap to live here but there are definitely some neighborhoods that are less expensive than others, so if you plan on making a move here just make sure you have a good realtor to help you find the best home to fit your budget. Someone like me :)

#2 Few condos

However, it’s important to note that there isn’t a big inventory of condo buildings in Oakville. The town likes to keep their skies clear and free of obstruction, so across the town and throughout the neighborhoods you’re only going to find about a dozen or so high rises. That means if you are looking for a smaller space to live, say in an apartment or the like, then your options in Oakville are going to be more limited.

#3 Traffic

Now the funny thing is that despite a relatively low number of condo buildings in the town, there’s still lots of traffic. Because usually when you have a high concentration of buildings that means more people and that in turn leads to more traffic. But in Oakville, even though it’s not a densely populated community, you still get traffic - people commuting in out and throughout town. For example, to get from the Marriott hotel at the eastern most tip of Oakville to Bronte Creek Provincial Park which is at the western most tip of Oakville, this Google Map screenshot shows that at 4:00 on a weekday afternoon which is not rush hour per se but just before it, I’m still in the red.

#4 Far from major cities

So you just want to be mindful of that especially if you’re commuting outside of Oakville to bigger cities like Toronto and Niagara. But that does lead me to my next con, which is that these 2 major cities I just mentioned are actually quite far. Oakville is perfectly nestled between Toronto and Niagara Falls, but you’re still a good 40 kms from Ontario’s capital, and 100 kms from the Falls. So if you’re moving to the area but plan on commuting for say work, then set yourself up accordingly and get a podcast or playlist ready because you’re going to be sitting in your vehicle for a while.

#5 You need a car

Which brings me to my final con of living in Oakville which is that you do need a vehicle to get anywhere. Pretty much everywhere in Oakville - except for some pockets around town where you may be able to walk from your home to a nearby plaza or your kids school but for the most part, to reach your every day conveniences like grocery shopping, getting takeout, or stopping by at the gym, you’re going to need a car. The public transit system is not that robust, and any given neighborhood you move to the walk score is likely not going to be that high.

But that does beg the question - why are so many people still moving to Oakville? Why despite all the cons I just mentioned are people are choosing to call Oakville home? Well there are so many beautiful pros about living here. And to start off with pro #1

PROS

#1 Waterfront

Oakville is a waterfront town. As I mentioned earlier Oakville does sit on the shores of Lake Ontario, it has 17 kms of waterfront and so you’re going to get tons of beautiful attractions along the water, like the Heritage Waterfront Park which has a beach, boardwalk and pier, lighthouse, bluffs, and tons of paved trails to spend a day with the family. Or you can bring your canoe, your kayak, your paddleboard, you can rent one from the harbor’s lakeside vendors if you don’t have one yourself, or even cruise the waters from one of several local charters. Basically here in Oakville you can get your swimsuit and your fishing game on and enjoy the many benefits of lakeside living.

#2 Trendy villages

Then just a stone’s throw away from the water you have all these different villages that add to the warm, lakeside, community feel. Kerr Village is a trendy and eclectic neighborhood that mixes small town hospitality with urban revitalization, great for foodies and hobbyists alike. You’ll also find a great selection of award-winning restaurants and family and independently owned businesses in Bronte Village. Everything from art galleries to cool gaming stores you can find in these fun and vibrant community villages.

#3 Shopping

But aside from these villages there’s tons of shopping to be had elsewhere. Downtown Oakville is an upscale shopping district where you’ll find fashion boutiques and specialty shops, and the overall look of the area is colored with historical character against a lakeside backdrop it’s very beautiful. But then there’s also Oakville Place, the town’s largest indoor mall which has your Best Buy, Goodlife Fitness, and The Bay - just to name a few of your bigger anchor stores.

#4 Entertainment Options

As far as other entertainment options Oakville has plenty of fun things to do. In the winter there’s Taste of Oakville a month long food festival of restaurants offering a diverse selection of 3-course lunch and dinner meals from a fixed price menu. In the summer there’s Oakville Ribfest for those wanting to enjoy good music, good company, and of course good ribs. And for year round fun, you have plenty of attractions like Dave & Busters a family-friendly sports bar and arcade hybrid, iFLY which is a thrilling indoor skydiving facility that teaches you how to reach for the skies! Or grab some popcorn and catch a movie under the stars at Oakville’s premiere retro drive in theatre, 1 of only less than a handful of drive-ins across the GTA, the 5 Drive In.

#5 Outdoor Activities

Speaking of the outdoors, if you’re looking for more outdoor fun then Oakville has tons of that for you as well. Oakville is known for their plentitude of golf courses including the renowned Glen Abbey Golf Course which has been host to 28 Canadian Open Golf Championships so far. Bronte Creek Provincial Park has hiking and biking trails, cross country skiing, camping sites, and even a play barn. And with its extensive trail system that stretches over 200kms, coupled with open parklands, gardens, and lakeside views, Oakville is a natural playground for those wanting to take in the fresh air and explore the outdoors.

The Town of Oakville is a vibrant and beautiful lakeside town with a strong sense of community and historical charm. You get that small town feel but with all the modern amenities of a larger city. Even though you’re only an hour from Toronto you’ll feel like a world away in this nice and pleasant, welcoming town.
